Post  fatality on Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:17 am

First of all Hello to all.

Name(optional): Florin
Age: 36
In-game name: Fatality
Class and spec: rogue assassination
Armory link:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anachronos&n=Fatal%C3%AFty
What framerate do you generally play at in 25 man raids? Is your PC and internet connection reliable? What's your average latency to the game servers during evenings?
40-50 fps during boss fights, internet is 10mbs guaranteed, pc upgraded anualy (quad core 2.83, nvidia gtx 285, 4Gram atm)
Latency sometimes only in dalaran

Why are you applying to Bloodpack?
I want togive a hand to clear content in game, as much as i want to clear it myself. I want a strong and stabile guild that raid seriously and also find the fun in game besides and during raids.
Besides days and hours of raiding show that you respect ppl for their life also.
Have you played with anyone in Bloodpack before, who might vouch for you?
I played with several, but dont think they will vouch for me
What is your current guild and why are you planning to leave?
I already left from Dark Secrets a couple of days ago. Reason was i was flamed cause im pesimist when i was saying only a truth = people are slacking.
What previous guilds have you been in?
I was in dark secrets after dinged 80.
Atm i am in my own banking guild dark crusaders. (just to use easier the 4 vault tabs i have:D)

If this is a cross-realm application, should you be accepted for trial, how soon can you transfer here?
na
Do you currently have any pending application with any other guild? If yes, who with?
no
Do you have any high level alt characters? Have you raided with them before?
Yes i have lots of 80’, did raid only with Zamoo (holy priest) and Mortador (warrior), Ennya (mage)
What interests and hobbies do you have outside of the game?
Deeply involved in racing (hill climbing mostly, have my own 2 racing cars:D)
Raiding
What is your past raiding experience in the game to date? Please only include content that you cleared at the appropriate level cap - we're not interested if you cleared AQ 40 last week.
Classic:
Molten Core - cleared on my alliance warrior Kullenberg and alliance priest Zamolxis on Azjol-Nerub and
Onyxia - same as MC
Blackwing Lair – same as MC
Ahn'Qiraj - 20 – same as MC
- 40 – cleared on Zamolxis (in Semper Fidelis guild at that time)
Naxxramas : cleared Military, Construct and Plague with Zamolxis
The Burning Crusade:
Karazhan, Zul'Aman, Gruul's Lair & Magtheridon - Cleared all on Fatality and my warrior Mortador
Serpentshrine Cavern & The Eye – Cleread all on Fatality and my mage Ennya
Mount Hyjal, Black Temple & Sunwell – cleared besides SWP on my mage Ennya

Wrath of the Lich King (excluding commonly pugged content):

Naxxramas 25 - cleared
Malygos 25 - cleared
Ulduar 10 – cleread 13/14
Ulduar 25 – cleared 13/14
ToC 10 normal - cleared
ToGC 10 heroic - 3/5
ToC 25 normal - cleared
ToGC 25 heroic - na

Please list any achievements from a raid environment that you have and feel we should know about.
I think is more easier now to see them on armory
Are you available to make our raid times? If there is a night when you can attend some times a month, but not always, please state so.
Thursday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]
Friday = 19:30-23:30 [Y]
Sunday = 19:30-22:30 [Y] with some exceptions when are family weekends

Monday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]
Tuesday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]
Do you use these following addons?
Deadly Boss Mods / Bigwigs - dbm yes
Omen - yes
DoTimer or some other sort of spelltimers - have some rogue specific addons
Grid - yes
Any other addons which you feel should be mentioned?
Decursive (even not use it for rogue, rogue power bars, envenomous, omnicc, recount, titan all, visual heal).
If possible, please try to provide a screenshot of your UI in a raiding setting. If you aren't able to get one from inside a raid, a screenshot of it from a battleground will suffice.
I am not a fan of changing UI, i play with keyboard a lot so no need special ui. Ill try get 1 tho but youll see a normal ui.
With blizzard adding optional "hard-modes" to future encounters, we're intending to beat the more difficult version of each fight, not just the basic version. Are you prepared to spend the time re-learning encounters to beat them in their hardest incarnations?
Yes i am always prepared and willing to do it, as long as we can see and feel any kind of progress.
Are you prepared to sit out if an encounter requires a certain raid composition for which you are not ideal?
yes
How do you fill your playing time when not raiding?
Farming mats, pvp, make some achievements when im bored
Raiding's not cheap. Flasks, potions, buff food, and of course repairs all cost money and time, and so does keeping your gear gemmed and chanted properly. Are you able to support your raiding expenses? What consumables do you typically use?
Making all these on my own characters: AP flask and Speed pots, fish feast(even i rather eat my own agy/crit + stamina food)
Why have you chosen your particular spec/class? How familiar are you with your class' other specs? Would you be willing to respec if the raid required it? Do you have dual-spec?
I choose assassination cause it suits my way of playing, tryed raiding combat also but didnt find it so fun.
If we discuss the reasons why should i change it, maybe.
Yes have dual spec, but also assassination pvp spec
.
What is the general gearing strategy you follow for your class? Please be as specific as possible. For example, a combat rogue might reply:
Not so many to say, CRIT is our friend and after that AGY, need keeping caped the hit 262 (with new tier we have tones anyway) and the expertise 26. Atm i still use 2 pieces of Conqueror for keeping the bonus, cause any other piece of 232 lvl tier items are worse then these for assassination. Will change them with 245 items in future, then stats will better as long as 4th pieces bonus.
Please give a brief description of how you go about doing your job in a raid. What's your DPS cycle/priority system if you're a DPS? What spells do you use in what situations as a healer? How do you go about maximising threat whilst minimising incoming damage, as a tank? What more is there to tanking than those two aspects? Use a particular boss fight as an example if it will make it easier to talk about.
I start with Garrote to put bleeding on boss +combo points, that makes me use imediatelly after global cd SnD and HfB, after 4/5 combo points Rupture, then normal cicling Muti-Muti-Muti-Env untill needed refresh on Rupture (stay sharp of keeping HfB up all times, not have to worry about SnD cause Env reapply it)
Also using speed pot at some points of encounter, ToT tank, use the haste engi enchant on gloves at cd (1 min) and racial ability also at cd
.
Do you use external resources (such as 3rd party forums, spreadsheets, simulations) to research your class and spec? Give examples, links, and commentary if so.
Besides elitistjerks (wich i find it like a bible for all classes, shadowpanther.net is nice to see whats best gear for us, wowhead, mmochampions, bosskillers, youtube.
What professions have you chosen on your raiding character? How do they benefit you in raids?
Engineering: haste on gloves at 1 min, agy enchants on cape + boots.
I have also caped enchanting.

Please provide a recent combat log parse (e.g. WWS, WMO, WoL) of your character in a raid environment if you have access to one.
Sorry dont have one
Any additional things you'd like to add?.
I always fight for no.1 place in raid damage (when im not needed for any other raid job).
I dont like slacking in raids (hate who make 3k dps in a HM25 or 2kHPS, their places shouldnt be there), even I play wow for fun and to clear my mind from daily things and want to be part of any comunity events dailys or not.
I am online almost all days.
Even i know you are not recruiting rogues atm, id like to ask to give me a chance to prove what i can provide for raid benefit.
Thank you all to take your time to read my application. See you all in game.

Thank you for the application. Unfortunately we've no room for another mutilate rogue at the moment, I'd only even consider a combat rogue as we only have one main spec provider of the 4% physical damage debuff at the moment but plenty of people bringing the 3% crit debuff. Best of luck elsewhere.

This is what i gathered untill now, things that no1 wanted them, i just took them for offspec (never been more then 2 days combat spec)
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anachronos&n=Fatal%C3%AFty
I will change the agy gems into ArP gems = more 100 ArP, but still will be only 625 ArP, and my dps will decrease from 7-8k normaly in asassination spec/gear, probably at 6-6.5 dps (raid wise).
If you want me as that for the sake of the raids and afford to lose a bit dps untill gear up properly, then ill change spec and gems/gliphs. (+wil enchant Fist weap:D)
cheers

Pretty decent gear to start off with, albeit some of it a bit out of date. Thing is, I want you to be 100% sure you'd be happy and comfortable playing combat. Playstyle is different to mutilate, in some ways quite a bit simpler/more boring, more focus on managing cooldowns (which isn't exactly rocket science) but the baseline priority system is less complex, which might make it quite a bit less interesting for you.

Edit: I suspect at the level of ArP from gear you're at, and lacking a mjolnir/grim toll, you'll probably be below the point where ArP gemming overtakes Agi, so I wouldn't change gems yet. I'll run you through Aldriana's 1.3 spreadsheet when I've got a free moment to check to confirm though.

Fortunatelly forgot i still have Grim Toll in bank, so, regarding that and Aldriana's Combat XLS file + all i read last hour about combat, i need to change 2 gems and im soft cap on arp, so that will work for start. Focusing on CDs is not an issue, already do that all time:D and Rogue Power Bars help also. Also with Procodile addon (forgot to mention it) ill try use racial or haste on gloves (depend which is available) when Grim Toll will proc. Have some macros as well for those moments:D
About the thing if ill feel or not confortable with combat spec, this i cant answer now, cause at that moment when tryed combat, my gear was very 200 lvl:D so couldnt feel anything. Probably after a couple of raids and some more research for perfect rotations i will answer to that:D
thanks

I was kinda right, and kinda wrong.

With a ruptureless cycle (which, with all the target switching involved in beasts, jaraxxus and twins heroic, I'd recommend even though slightly lower single target sustained DPS):

Full agi gemming aside from one nightmare tear for meta and agi/crit in worthwhile yellows, 7378.5.

Full arp gemming aside from above conditions, 7383.5.

With a rupture cycle, which is slightly higher single target sustained dps on paper:

Full agi gemming aside from above conditions, 7418.

Full arp gemming aside from above conditions, 7409.

So for a rupture cycle you'll still see slightly better results from agi gemming with your level of arp from gear, while for a ruptureless cycle you'll see marginally better results from ArP. Probably not worth regemming ArP just yet given the magnitude of the difference.

Edit: above was with death's choice/greatness, obviously grim toll will make gemming for ArP softcap preferable!

You'd need to change a few more than two, make sure you're not using pre-nerf value of ArP. Hard cap post 3.2.2 arp nerf is 1400 ArP (100%). Grim toll proc is 612 ArP, or 43.7%, so soft cap with grim toll is 788 ArP, or 56.3%. With Mjolnir, it's 735 ArP. Either way you're a fair bit short, though gt is nonetheless better than greatness for your setup.

One thing that strikes me as odd in your gemming is how many blue gems you've used. Max dps approach is reds (either agility or arp depending on spec and arp level) in almost every socket, oranges (agi/crit, or agi/haste, depending on gear, spec and poisons) where there are worthwhile socket bonuses (as you've done), one nightmare tear to meet meta requirements. You're using 3 10 agi/15 stam gems. Even if you were using 20 agi rather than 20 arp:

Neck: you're gaining 15 stam, 8 attack power, at a cost of 10 agility
Legs: gaining 15 stam, 6 agility, at a cost of 10 agility, so gaining 15 stam at a cost of 4 agility
Boots: gaining 15 stam, 4 agility at a cost of 10 agility, so gaining 15 stam at a cost of 6 agility

Total, gaining 45 stam, 8 AP at a cost of 20 agility.

8 AP can be roughly equated to 4 agility, so gaining 45 stam, losing 16 agility.

Now obviously a dead rogue does no dps, but gemming for 3 socket bonuses with stamina seems excessive to me. Do you find the extra stamina particularly useful most of the time?

The max dps way to gem those slots would be:

Neck: 20 agi (well, technically 20 arp), ignore socket bonus
Legs: nightmare tear, as you need a blue for meta and this gives most worthwhile socket bonus
Boots: 20 agi, ignore socket bonus.

Total, gaining 20 agi, 10 str (roughly 5 agi), 10 stam

The difference between the two approaches is:

your approach - +35 stam
my approach - +25 agi

Just curious if you feel the extra stamina is worth the loss of dps stats?

you are totally right, i really didnt do the maths on those, looking only to keep the bonuses up, that was really wrong and stupid...
ill change them as soon as i established spec.

I believe that in around 99% of setups Icewalker is according to the spreadsheet a stronger boot enchant than straight agi, I would imagine that this is relevant to some gear setups over others, if your drowning in +hit then agi will probably come up trumps of course.

Considering combat specs, the normal is of course 15/51/5 but maybe worthwhile trying 18/51/2 - After last night I am going to give this spec a bit more of a chance and see how it goes myself.

regarding Aldriana: "As a rule of thumb, I'd go with ArPen > Agi > AP > Yellow Hit > Spell hit > Crit = Expertise > Haste > White Hit > Strength. However, the ordering of those stats depends somewhat on your gear level - at pre-Ulduar gear levels, ArPen is relatively weaker, and at near-BIS T9 levels Haste starts to catch up with Crit in value."

so im not sure you are correct

Feel free to run it through the spreadsheet yourself however on a personal basis Icewalker is rated higher on the 1.3 Spreadsheet over straight Agi.

If your using Grim toll then your probably drowning in +hit and therefore my statement of

if your drowning in +hit then agi will probably come up trumps

Holds true
