Application to join Bloodpack

Post  Guest on Thu Jan 03 2008, 18:15

Hey there,

I have only been playing World of Warcraft for a few months. I started playing in August 2007. The first guild I joined was "The Seven", a very small guild with no real aspirations to anything; but this is where I met Jalvorsk, an experienced Troll Shaman with raiding experience who was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of his knowledge with me. He told me all about raiding, about attunement and how he wanted to join a raiding guild. When he jumped ship to Dark Secrets, I went along for the ride. I joined Dark Secrets at lv55, and was basically told, "We are a raiding guild. All of our members focus on improving their gear. We can't waste time grouping with you for instances. When you get to lv70, we will help you with Karazhan attunement and then you can come with us to Karazhan." Of course, I was psyched. I read up on all the strategies for the bosses in Karazhan, and worked my arse off to get to lv70. Upon reaching lv70, I already had two Karazhan key fragments (and needed to go to the Arcatraz to get the third), so I built a flying machine and proudly announced, "LFG The Arcatraz" in guild chat. The GM, Nightblossom, whispered me, "We'll get a group to go to the Arcatraz, then we'll call you when we've finished and you can get the key fragment." Of course, I was mortified. After I completed the Black Morass (three times, Medivh kept bugging and the GMs couldn't do squat about it), I got the Master's Key and enquired about Karazhan. The response I got went something like, "You need to learn to play like the others. You need to do more instances. Can you do Heroics? Can you do PvP? No. You need more dungeon experience." I personally thought; how can someone who just rushed me through Karazhan attunement tell me I need more experience in dungeons? She'd never seen me in a dungeon, heroic or otherwise; and unless I'm mistaken PvP plays a lot differently to PvE.

Alas, I digress. I then discovered that I was actually "doing things too fast", and "the guild didn't like it." I proceeded to leave Dark Secrets on December 31st, and went on to PuG my way into no less than eight heroic instances (judging by the fact I have 24 Badges of Justice), those being The Blood Furnace (where I started), The Botanica, Hellfire Ramparts and The Arcatraz. After dropping lv350 enchanting to take up tailoring (as I would never get enough groups to acquire a Dungeon Set (Oblivion Raiment)), I crafted Frozen Shadoweave and got my hands on Battlecast Pants - the same gear the GM from Dark Secrets uses in Karazhan. I feel that I have accomplished more on my own in the last three days than I ever accomplished in a guild. However, last night (January 2nd), I found a PuG in the form of just Bloodpack members for Heroic Hellfire Ramparts. I was both astounded and intrigued at how effortlessly they ran through the instance, laughing and joking (even when we wiped - the Ragescream foot saga made me crack up) but still got the job done professionally. When I realised (being the slow person I am) that this group was just guild members and me, I began to enquire what sort of guild it was, whether they would accept new members, etc, etc. So here I am, introduction over. Here are my stats.

Clytemnestra
Undead Warlock
Affliction 45/5/11 (Unstable Affliction/Demonic Embrace/Shadowburn)
Stamina: 603 (9340HP unbuffed)
Intellect: 330 (7285mana unbuffed)
Spell damage (Shadow): 680 unbuffed (usually 780 through Fel Armour)

Armoury page located here.

Some notes on gear
My Frozen Shadoweave set, Battlecast Pants, Talisman of the Breaker and Destruction Holo-gogs are considered by me to be endgame, as they're epic and have decent stats/gems socketed. The only gear that needs to be upgraded in my opinion are the Arcing Bracers (Crimson Bracers of Gloom from Omor the Unscarred in Heroic Ramparts, if they drop before I have 35 Badges of Justice for the Runed Spell-cuffs from G'eras in Shattrath City), the Runesong Dagger (I keep losing the roll on Greatsword of Horrid Dreams from Murmur in the Shadow Labyrinth so I'm considering doing PvP to get the Gladiator's Spellblade) and Hortus' Seal of Brilliance (which will be replaced by the Orb of the Soul Eater eventually). Of course, any suggestions as to what gear to acquire (I'm not really ready for raids gear-wise and don't enjoy PvP that much so instance drops and badge rewards are preferable) would be greatly appreciated.

Some notes on instance strategy/technique
As I am primarily an affliction warlock (and I have experimented with Destruction/Demonology-based specs), using DoTs on trash mobs does not necessarily work as well as the DoTs are not allowed to finish and I always end up at the bottom of any damage meters anyone has going. So, when instancing, I tend to begin with Curse of Shadows, then use Unstable Affliction, Siphon Life and Corruption, then alternate Life Tap/Shadow Bolt. As the Frozen Shadoweave heals me for 2% of the shadow damage I do, this takes any strain to heal me from my Life Tap frenzy off the healers, whilst maintaining fairly high damage per second. I will banish/enslave demons where appropriate (which doesn't tend to work as well in Heroic dungeons, so this may be a mute point), and I go all-out affliction on long endurance bosses (such as Heroic Harbinger Skyriss and Heroic Omor the Unscarred). Whenever one or more mage(s) are in the group, I always take their spec into account when cursing, using Curse of Shadows when they are Arcane, and Curse of the Elements (and the resulting Soul Fire/Immolate/Incinerate spams) when they are Fire or Frost. I also have never "ninja'd" any drops in dungeons, and always put people who need universal items like Primal Nether before me if I do not need it for crafted gear etc.

So, that's me. I have met a few people from this guild outside of dungeons, namely Aiora, who had only good things to say. The group yesterday also impressed me a great deal (as has already been noted). I hope I am successful in my application, as I would love to be a part of a great guild. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your very nice application Smile
We've decided to offer a place in the guild, so just contact me, Ericka or Kareha in game for an invite.

(If neither of us are online just do a /who bloodpack and whisper a member, they'll know if any of us are on alts Wink )
