Personal
Name(optional): Daniel Smith
Age: 16

In-game name: Saranora
Class and spec: Paladin, 51/5/15
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anachronos&n=Saranora

What framerate do you generally play at in 25 man raids? Is your PC and internet connection reliable? What's your average latency to the game servers during evenings?

My framerate is always very high, maintaining the same status as it does in a normal, out-of-raid context. This is similar to my internet connection which is very fast and reliable, with an average latency of around 100ms.

Why are you applying to Bloodpack?

I would like to become a part of Bloodpack both due to its great raid progression reputation aswell as its reputation of a fun and helpful guild all across the Anachronos realm, and I feel a guild of this calibur is what I am currently searching for.

Have you played with anyone in Bloodpack before, who might vouch for you?
No, I unfortunately have not had that privilege Sad

What is your current guild and why are you planning to leave?
I am currently in Exodus, which I have got to say is a really good guild, but I'm looking for more progression into Ulduar rather than lots of repeated Naxxramas runs.

What previous guilds have you been in?
Legion of Doom - Start of TBC to a few months ago, left when arguments arose in the upper echelons of the guild and it fell apart

Exodus - See above.

If this is a cross-realm application, should you be accepted for trial, how soon can you transfer here?
N/A
Do you currently have any pending application with any other guild? If yes, who with?
No, this is my only current application
Do you have any high level alt characters? Have you raided with them before?
Yes, I've got a level 80 gnome warlock on Magtheridon, he was my main character in 'Vanilla' WoW and through the majority of TBC, and I therefore have raided on him. Recently, he has mainly become a PvP alt.

What interests and hobbies do you have outside of the game?
Lots of things to be honest, socialising with friends, Squash, Sailing, reading and the likes Smile

Raiding

What is your past raiding experience in the game to date? Please only include content that you cleared at the appropriate level cap - we're not interested if you cleared AQ 40 last week.

Classic:
Molten Core - Cleared at 60 on my warlock
Onyxia - Once again, cleared at 60 on my warlock
Blackwing Lair - I didn't have any experience here at level 60
Ahn'Qiraj - Similarily, no experience here at level 60
Zul'Gurub - Cleared at 60

The Burning Crusade:
Karazhan, Zul'Aman, Gruul's Lair & Magtheridon - Cleared Karazhan and Gruul's Serpentshrine Cavern & The Eye - Experienced the first boss in the eye, and no more I'm afraid
Mount Hyjal, Black Temple & Sunwell - I had no experience of these.

Wrath of the Lich King:
Normal Raids - OS, Naxx, VoA cleared.
Heroic Raids - OS, Naxx, VoA, Ulduar first boss and a number of attempts at malygos up to phase 3.

Please list any achievements from a raid environment that you have and feel we should know about.

Heroic: Less is more / Heroic: Arachnophobia / Shocking! / The Safety Dance

Are you available to make our raid times? If there is night a where you can attend some times a month, but not always, please state so.
Thursday = 19:30-22:30
Friday = 19:30-23:30
Sunday = 19:30-22:30
Monday = 19:30-22:30
Tuesday = 19:30-22:30

I should be able to attend all of the above times, only night that I wont be present will be wednesdays most likely, but there isn't a raid then so it should be fine Smile

Do you use these following addons?
Deadly Boss Mods / Bigwigs - DBM
Omen - Yep
DoTimer or some other sort of spelltimers -
Grid - Nope, currently use X-Perl but would, of course, download and use it is it was the guild's wishes
Any other addons which you feel should be mentioned?
Pallypower (Paladin raid addon allowing the configuration of buffs between raid paladins)

If possible, please try to provide a screenshot of your UI in a raiding setting. If you aren't able to get one from inside a raid, a screenshot of it from a battleground will suffice.

With blizzard adding optional "hard-modes" to future encounters, we're intending to beat the more difficult version of each fight, not just the basic version. Are you prepared to spend the time re-learning encounters to beat them in their hardest incarnations?

Of course, this is the fun of raiding for me, with the sense of achievement that you get when the encounter is finally downed. I dislike giving a boss one go then abandoning it, as this to me isn't the spirit of raiding.

Are you prepared to sit out if an encounter requires a certain raid composition for which you are not ideal?

Sure, this will ensure that the guild progresses as best as possible, which is most important.

How do you fill your playing time when not raiding?
Dailys or the odd heroic, other than that, preparing for raids by buying flasks and the likes.

Raiding's not cheap. Flasks, potions, buff food, and of course repairs all cost money and time, and so does keeping your gear gemmed and chanted properly. Are you able to support your raiding expenses? What consumables do you typically use?

Yes, I'm easily able to finance my raiding, with daily earnings generally making up any raid expenses. I currently use flasks (of the frost wyrm) along with food.

Why have you chosen your particular spec/class? How familiar are you with your class' other specs? Would you be willing to respec if the raid required it? Do you have dual-spec?

I chose to play a paladin as I liked the large range of roles that it can fulfill, with the desirability in most groups. During TBC I had a large number of changes in spec to see what I liked most, and in the end I ended up holy, which is definately my favourite. I'm very familiar with other classes specs, having both lower level alts of other classes and having played on the arena tournament realms with a variety of different classes.I am currently retribution as an off spec but I have very little gear for it, and I have just changed from being protection off-spec.

Do you use external resources (such as 3rd party forums, spreadsheets, simulations) to research your class and spec? Give examples if so.

I tend to use websites such as mmo-champion.com to get an insight in changes coming to the paladin class so I can make judgements and get prepared to change my style of playing accordingly.

What professions have you chosen on your raiding character? How do they benefit you in raids?
Mining and Jewelcrafting, which unfortuntly are not level completely yet as I am still in the process, therebby making them benefit me very little in raids.

If you're applying as DPS, please provide a recent combat log parse (e.g. WWS, WMO, WoL) of your character in a raid environment if you have access to one.
N/A
Any additional things you'd like to add?

I am a very mature, responsible and trustworthy individual who puts the requirements of the guild first and shows the utmost respect for other guild members. I can easily adapt to changing situations and have a very steep learning curve with raid encounters. I am also very active, and am online basically every day. I would also like to thank you for the opportunity of applying. Thanks ^^

Noticed all your spells are spread out, do you click them or have you key binded them?

Nice application though, good luck!

Hi Saranora and welcome to the board. I really like you put some effort in your application and make some good argument the reason you want to join. I got some question i would like you to ask, so here it goes.

1) Your are saying that you are almost online everyday but, you are missing the important reputation with Kirin'tor for the head enchant and Sons of Hodir shoulder enchant, any particular reason not to have maxed those ?

2) You have (mining) as a gather profession on your main is a big nono and not maxed any of your profession. What is the reason for that ?

3) you'r gem choice are very pourly gemmed. Fx having 25 sp and 2 % reduced threat. Metagem, should be either 21 int and chance to restore mana on spelcast or 25 sp and 2 % intellect.

Why are you having mp5 gems in you'r gear? What the reason not to gem either spellpower or intellect in gear instead ?

4) If you ask me your your ui seems very messy and that whats worry me most.

I see you are using healbot, do you have any debuff on your frames ?

You have keybounded nothing on your ui, can you assure you have important spells and potion keybounded ? and tell the reason why you can't see them ?

5) Tell me abit about how you heal. what seal do you use ? what spells do you use in a specific fight fx heigan, sartherion, 4 horseman ? if you have any wws reports it would be great.

6) Like i said you ui seems abit messy, can you distract yourself from being hit by flamewalls, voidzone, bombs, etc ? what abbilities do you use as a person to avoid it ?

I wish you goodluck with your application and hope you will answer my question as good as you can.

Thank you for the application, it's clear you spent quite a bit of time and effort on it.

I'll echo Chrelles' questions concerning gemming and enchants. Any reason why your cloak, chest and legs aren't enchanted?

The 4 piece tier 7 set bonus is very, very strong. In my opinion, even using a t7.10 man chest (easily accessible via badges) and completing your 4 piece, getting the 5% reduction on Holy Light, would outweigh stat gain from using your current chest with only 3 pieces of t7. Any thoughts about this? What do you think about the tier 8 set bonuses?

Your northrend reputations are surprisingly low, did you not get the chance to do many heroics when gearing up?

What are your thoughts about the 3.2 changes for holy paladins?

How do you feel about a divine guardian spec?

Your gemming is, to say the least, very odd. First of all, your using completely the wrong meta gem, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41401 is the one you should be using. For reaching the meta use http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40094 for the Blue and Yellow requirement and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40047 for the Red. All of your other gems should be http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40012.

Gearwise I'll cut you some slack with your choice of weapon, I know that drop rates suck but I hope you know that Spirit is not an important stat for Holy Paladins. However, your choice of trinket is, to say the least, poor. There are plenty of quest reward trinkets that are better than the PvP trinket you currently have equipped, better yet is the Intellect version of Darkmoon Card: Greatness. Get rid of that Libram as well and replace it with the badge Libram http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40705.

As has been pointed out, make getting your 4 piece T7 bonus a priority, 5% off of is a huge boost until you can get 4 piece T8.

Enchants need to be sorted as well, using PvP enchants for PvE is a huge no no, get your rep up with the Kirin Tor and Sons of Hodir so you can get their enchants.

UI wise, I agree with Chrelles that it is kind of messy, just for comparison this is my UI:

If you would like to discuss anything with me though I'd be happy to talk to you in game.

Firstly, I would really like to thank you all for the constructive criticism, it will help me greatly.

I'll try to respond to some of your questions now.

My chest, legs and cloak aren't enchanted because i've basically only just recently recieved these items of loot, and have therefore not really been pro-active enough in the enchantment of them.

I completely agree with the fact that I need to get my Kirin'tor and SoH reputation up, something that I am currently working on having neglected it for some time.

The majority of gems in my gear, I'm ashamed to say, were placed mainly out of convenience for myself, as I did not particularily like the idea of leeching from the guild bank for gems (something I hate doing for anything tbh, as I feel I am stealing). I have therefore also not been pro-active enough in this area, something that will change in accountance of this advice.

Up to now, my UI has been very comfortable and useful to me, and I've always been complimented on good healing. However, I am of course willing to try other addons which could improve my playstyle and change my UI so that it is more reliable raid-wise, including keybindings. The important spells I use are number-bound currently, and I click for spells such as my blessings, although I will of course change this in response to this advice.

I tend to use a mix of holy lights and FoL's depending on who I'm healing as my main spells and I keep SS on the tank I'm healing. On fights such as Heigan I'll use holy lights unless I make a range mistake and get the cast time debuff, in which case I'll use Holy Shock and the FoL proc that it gives. For the 4H I'll usually just use holy light and beacon myself (providing I'm healing a tank at the back of the room), so I can concentrate on keeping the tank topped without worrying about any damage on myself.

I only extremely rarely, if ever, get taken off-guard with an AoE effect which I need to move from, as I concentrate on fights and DBM can give a hint of cooldowns on some fights, such as Sartharion.

I completely agree that I should be aiming for a 4th piece of T7.5, I've just been very unlucky with rolls Razz

I'm actually quite excited about the 3.2 paladin changes, it seems that more effort will have to be put into mana-management, thereby requiring more skill to play the spec as a whole, something I am whole heartedly happy about. The SS changes will also add slightly more scope to FOL as a whole.

I would be quite thrilled with a divine guardian spec to be honest, it would be a nice change from my current spec.

As I say, I'm definately not the most lucky person when it comes to rolling, so I was happy when I got my mace even though it has spirit, as I was previously using the titansteel craftable mace, which is definately worse even though my current mace has spirit.

And Kareha, I really do like the look of your UI compared to my own, I would be very interested in setting up my interface in a similar way to optimise my healing and playstyle.

Once again, thanks for the constructive criticism, I've answered these questions honestly, and thanks for the opportunity to apply Smile

is it just from being in a small room or do you play with your camera view pretty close to you toon?

maxing that out and making you view a lot more off the environment surrounding you as a surpluse and will help reacting to raid/farm/questing situations aswell
