With blizzard adding optional "hard-modes" to future encounters, we're intending to beat the more difficult version of each fight, not just the basic version. Are you prepared to spend the time re-learning encounters to beat them in their hardest incarnations?
Yes.

Are you prepared to sit out if an encounter requires a certain raid composition for which you are not ideal?
Yes.

How do you fill your playing time when not raiding?
Dailies and farming Titanium.

Raiding's not cheap. Flasks, potions, buff food, and of course repairs all cost money and time, and so does keeping your gear gemmed and chanted properly. Are you able to support your raiding expenses? What consumables do you typically use?
I am able to support my raiding expenses. I usualy use flasks.

Why have you chosen your particular spec/class? How familiar are you with your class' other specs? Would you be willing to respec if the raid required it? Do you have dual-spec?
I like playing with a mage. And I'm just used to my spec. I don't know the other specs well.

What professions have you chosen on your raiding character? How do they benefit you in raids?
Mining.
Jewelcrafting.
I'm just gonna say that gems ftw.

Thanks for the application. I'll just have a quick look through and offer my thoughts.

First, your answers were very short and didn't really tell us much. Mostly one to two word answers, I'd appreciate some detail in responses.

For the consumables question, I was looking for specifics - what flask? What potions? What food buffs? This would help me see how well you understand your class.

You omitted the question regarding looking at various websites, forums, spreadsheets etc to gain more understanding of your class, so from that I guess you don't. As a mage I'd suggest this is quite a big mistake, as the elitist jerks mage forums are full of useful information and the mage module for Rawr (which is a gear simulator if you didn't know) is very powerful.

We're very much after a mage who knows how to play the class as a whole, not just one spec. Being unfamiliar with (soon to be buffed arcane) or frost isn't great, various fights favour different specs more or less, so being able to respec to a different spec and play it well is definitely a plus.

Now, moving on to your gear:

First off, your meta, chaotic skyflare diamond, requires two blue gems to activate it. The only blue gem I can see in your gear is the purple in your chest. You've got three dragonseyes, but since last patch dragonseyes are no longer prismatic so that won't help towards meta requirements. So your meta's not working, currently.

You've got 14.87% hit from gear. Precision adds 3%, and raid buffs (misery or improved faerie fire add 3%), so that would put you at 20.87%, which is 3.87% over the hit cap of 17%. That's a lot of wasted itemisation, especially as you've actually got hit gems in which aren't doing anything for you. You're also socketing pure haste, which is a mistake for your spec (and any mage spec). For frostfire bolt (and all mage specs) spellpower is the #1 stat, and for ffb crit is the second stat in most gear setups. So that means that most of your gems ought to be spellpower, apart from two spellpower/spirit to activate the meta gem. The exception to this is when there's a worthwhile socket bonus and the gem colour is yellow, in that case you'd want a spellpower/crit gem to pick the bonus up.

For glyphs, I can understand the usefulness of the improved scorch glyph, and won't question that (though I'd expect in a raid that mages would switch it in and out depending on whether the fight had lots of adds/drops in combat or not). However living bomb is the #1 dps increasing glyph for both fireball and frostfire bolt, and you don't have it. If you really want improved scorch glyph, you should be dropping either molten armor or glyph of ffb (rawr would tell you which is the smaller dps loss).

As this is your only high-level character I can understand why you'd want a gathering profession like mining on it, but it's not exactly of huge benefit in a raid, compared to other professions with direct dps increases such as blacksmithing, tailoring etc.

Overall, I don't think you're really prepared for what we would require from you, so I'm going to have to decline you. Good luck elsewhere.
