Name(optional): Fredrik

Age: 20 soon 21

In-game name: Deé

Class and spec: Paladin - Protection. I have no problem to change spec, i don't have that much experience as holy since i haven't healed since BT on my priest but i learn fast and have gear for all specs thou my tank gear is the best atm.

Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anachronos&cn=De%C3%A9

Are you the original owner of the account/character you're applying with? Yes, same account since vanilla wow.

What framerate do you generally play at in 25 man raids? Is your PC and internet connection reliable? What's your average latency to the game servers during evenings?

30-40 fps, never had any problem while raiding if you don't count the times when it's bin lagging on the server.

Why are you applying to Bloodpack?

I want to raid it's a simple as that and i want to raid with people that know what they are doing and want to progress as much as my self. Thought i could go back to just pvp as i did when i started playing this game but raiding is just to much fun.

Have you played with anyone in Bloodpack before, who might vouch for you?

I've played with Ekdidomai and Sanakthe that i can remember spot on, i've surly have played with more but can't remember since i got offered a spot to BP on my priest back in TBC but enjoyed my stay in the guild i was in that time so passed on it. I would say Sanakthe can vouch for me since he's the one i've bin playing the most with lately.

What is your current guild and why are you planning to leave?

At the time being i'm not in a guild. I was in Chemical Rage but we disbanded right after we've started to progress on LK in 10 man same week it released after that i joined a friends guild and helped them out but it wasn't anything for me.

What previous guilds have you been in?

I've bin in Decay that was one of the best guilds on kor'gall in vanilla wow, sadly i didn't raid much in vanilla wow but spend most of my time pvping back then but raided some with em even thou my friend who was GM complained that i only pvped ^^. They disbanded a short time after TBC came out because they feelt the game was to easy now days.

After that i transfered to anachronos to play with some friends since most of my friends on kor'gall stoped playing after TBC came out. There i joined Girl scouts (who changed name to Einherjar) which i stayed with after Wotlk came out, left them because i wanted to level my paladin and tank and the guild was dieing also. Then i joined Fate, we changed to stormscale and progressed well but we disbanded week after LK released because our GM had a fight with some of the officers. After that i came back to anachronos, joined some friends guild that were semi social but wanted to raid so applied here.

If this is a cross-realm application, should you be accepted for trial, how soon can you transfer here?

-

Do you currently have any pending application with any other guild? If yes, who with?

-

Do you have any high level alt characters? Have you raided with them before?

I have 4 level 80 characters. I've raided with all of them but my paladin and rogue are the only 2 that i've raided ICC with

What interests and hobbies do you have outside of the game?

Probably like most nerds (seeing that i see my self as a nerd), Music, movies and other games and by of course goof around with friends.

What is your past raiding experience in the game to date? Please only include content that you cleared at the appropriate level cap - we're not interested if you cleared AQ 40 last week.

Classic:
Molten Core - Cleared
Onyxia - Was to lazy to do the prequest so no
Blackwing Lair - 2-3 bosses

I've got Alaglon 10 man achieve, most U10 hardmode achieve, a tribute to mad skill in togc 10 and several icc 10/25 achieve but don't think that it will impress you seeing you all have them you self Smile

Are you available to make our raid times? If there is a night when you can attend some times a month, but not always, please state so.
Thursday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]/[N] Y
Friday = 19:30-23:30 [Y]/[N] Y
Sunday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]/[N] Y
Monday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]/[N] Y
Tuesday = 19:30-22:30 [Y]/[N] Y

Do you use these following addons?
Deadly Boss Mods / Bigwigs / DXE - DBM
Omen - Yes
DoTimer or some other sort of spelltimers - Forte
Grid - No, never liked healing addons. Always healed the "normal" way
Any other addons which you feel should be mentioned? - All i can say there is Forte really, works nice and is simple and slick.

If possible, please try to provide a screenshot of your UI in a raiding setting. If you aren't able to get one from inside a raid, a screenshot of it from a battleground will suffice.

With blizzard adding optional "hard-modes" to future encounters, we're intending to beat the more difficult version of each fight, not just the basic version. Are you prepared to spend the time re-learning encounters to beat them in their hardest incarnations?

Love it, simple clear gets quite boring after a while.

Are you prepared to sit out if an encounter requires a certain raid composition for which you are not ideal?

I have no problems with that at all, the main priority is to get the boss down not to satisfy one of the raiders.

How do you fill your playing time when not raiding?

Pvping, doing old school raids, movies, series, music, friends mostly

Raiding's not cheap. Flasks, potions, buff food, and of course repairs all cost money and time, and so does keeping your gear gemmed and chanted properly. Are you able to support your raiding expenses? What consumables do you typically use?

Never had problem getting my gear fixed or getting money to make the raid. Flask of stoneblood, mainly fish feast but if there is none i make my self some food to get some more stamina and either AP or SP to boost the threat and Indestructible Potions.

Why have you chosen your particular spec/class? How familiar are you with your class' other specs? Would you be willing to respec if the raid required it? Do you have dual-spec?

I went protection in the just for the simple fact that i wanted to tank, i started the game as a rogue dps then went as a priest healer and i wanted to tank, i spend most of TBC keeping the tank and raid up and i wanted to be the one taking the beating instead of being the one healing it up. I know my 3 specs i've played them all and have no problem at all going another spec. I do have duel spec and atm it is prot/retri.

What is the general gearing strategy you follow for your class? Please be as specific as possible.

As for tanking my main strategy is step one to keep def cap up ofc, after that i aim for more stamina, armor, evasion/survivability and some str never goes wrong.
For retribution i go for hit cap, keeping exp cap and after that get as much AP/crit/haste i can get to harder hits.
As for holy i want haste, spell power and intellect mainly. I want to heal for much fast and for a long time.

Please give a brief description of how you go about doing your job in a raid. What's your DPS cycle/priority system if you're a DPS? What spells do you use in what situations as a healer? How do you go about maximising threat whilst minimising incoming damage, as a tank? What more is there to tanking than those two aspects? Use a particular boss fight as an example if it will make it easier to talk about.

As for tanking if im to main tank a boss i start with divine plea, cast a Holy shield, pop my Avenging Wrath throw away a hand of reckoning combined with Avenger's Shield. After that i throw a quick Judgment to get the extra healing to help out on that little part it helps on. After that i use Shield of Righteousness to start stacking the Dodge bonus from libram, then i use Hammer of the Righteous and then lay down consecration. After that i keep an rotation for as good as it goes to keep everything up, if the boss is by any chance i also use Holy wrath to get that extra threat and dps down on the boss.

If im going as retribution the main start is mostly Judgment since its ranged atk, after that get a divine storm out, lay down concecration out throw a crusader strike if you havent refreshed divine storm and keep the rotation up, since i dont have the latest libram for retribution yet i dont have to priorities crusader strike in anyway.

For holy as tank healer is to keep up Beacon of light on one of the tanks, heal the tank that needs the healing and help out in raid healing since the tank in question will get healing at all time if you keep your beacon up.

Do you use external resources (such as 3rd party forums, spreadsheets, simulations) to research your class and spec? Give examples, links, and commentary if so.

To be honest i've never used any of that to get the feel of my class. I like to play the class to get the feel of it, do some pvp to get a better understanding of whats effective to that and ofc do some raids to get the best feeling of whats the best for the fights.

How do the professions you've chosen benefit you in raids?

I got JC and mining and they both helps me boosting my stamina as for tanking, the mining might not be the best profession as for a dps or healer but my JC gives me extra str/int.

Please provide a recent combat log parse (e.g. WWS, WMO, WoL) of your character in a raid environment if you have access to one.

-

Any additional things you'd like to add?

Not much to add, Thanks for taking your time to read this and whatever happens good luck with getting LK down in heroic 10/25. If you have any questions don't hesitate just ask ^^.

Deé gets my vouch 100%. He's a great player in general, knows his stuff in raids and is definitely a quick learner. I've seen him play both specs (prot/ret) and he does a great job playing those specs.

Good luck Deé!

Your prot rotation deviates from 969 in such a way that a few seconds in you'll get a break in the rotation. After a while it should settle into 969, but the gap is a bit unnecessary. I've been known to do it myself just to get the big hitters out asap on short living mobs, but overall it's a threat loss on a boss, at least if you're aiming for 100% holy shield uptime. Glyph of holy wrath's a situational choice as far as glyphs - mind telling me what the situation was that prompted you to glyph it?

For ret, divine sacrifice without divine guardian is pretty mediocre since they changed how it works in 3.3. Typically for raiding ret you either go down to aura mastery or go heavier in ret to pick up vindication and some personal utility like divine purpose.

Can't find much fault in your gearing strategy for prot, but really we're not looking for another tank. Would be mildy interested in seeing your ret gear, but it's a fairly long shot as we've two reasonably active ret paladins.

To get vindication as a retribution paladin is fairly useless seeing you as a prot paladin have it, your warriors will/should use demo. shout, if you have an feral druid he will/should also use his version of demo. shout and seeing none of these stack i fail to see the point to get it. I am aware that divine sacrifice aint the best choice and are more then willing to change it to aura mastery.

For the glyph of holy wrath was more of an easier way to aoe tank in icc since in my former guild my main job was to pick up everything at once, and i'm also aware of that it might not be the best choice seeing i can get an glyph that lets me live for another 20 sec or so.

For the 969 rotation, i've read about it alittle but i've never had any problems with threat so haven't put down much time in to change my way but if i ever get problems i always check it out. But as for the time being i've even had problems over aggroing the main tank when i offtanked.

If you would like to see me tank/dps personally then im always free for heroic/raid all you have to do is whisper Smile

Vindication is the cheapest way of applying the ap reduction. Few bears spec into fully improved demo roar, ditto for prot warriors with shout, and while small it is undoubtedly a dps loss for a dps warrior to apply it (and they'll usually have to take a minor dps loss to spec it as well). Meanwhile a ret paladin can choose to apply it completely passively. Vindication is on the spellhit table, and as most protection paladins end up running quite a bit short of even the melee hit cap, if you're relying solely on one prot paladin to maintain vindication running a fairly typical 150-180 hit, you'll typically see maybe 90% - 95% uptime on it, which is pretty poor really. So no, I wouldn't say it's useless for a ret to pick it up, though at this moment in time I consider the AM spec superior.

With all the tank switches in ICC I'd consider RD useful on several fights. Saurfang, Putricide, Festergut and Sindragosa are all fights where taunt misses can cause wipes; sure we have two taunts, but when it only takes 158 hit w/ glyph + misery to guarantee it'll hit I don't see the value in risking it. Salvation's another situationally useful glyph - another 20% damage reduction cd on demand, as you alluded to. Only fight I can see HW being remotely useful for in ICC is Valithria, and even then not particularly, though I could see the use for anub 25 heroic.

Looking at your ret gear, as you said it's pretty out of date in a few slots, though not awful overall. Nothing that can't be fixed given time, but as we clear 11/12 on heroic in 25 it'd be somewhat hard for you to be able to contribute to quite a few of those fights at your current gear level, and so upgrade paths are somewhat limited. As we do have two active and geared ret paladins I'm going to decline you I'm afraid.

I do know your point of vindication just said as to no need for every paladin to spec in to it as i assume you and at least 1 of your retri paladins will be in the raid group and i would guess both of your retri paladins have it.

I do know that my choice of holy wrath glyph ain't the best but have helped me out on add tanking on anub etc just haven't changed it.

I understand your decision but don't agree on that gearing is limited seeing most of the BiS pieces are from the first 5 bosses but i can't argue from this stand anyway seeing i know as well as you that my gear ain't to compete with your current retri paladins.
Hopefully you will bring horde yet another server first, best of luck.
